Six Reasons Why Succulents Make the Best House Plants

You don’t necessarily need to have a green thumb to grow houseplants. Yet, if you are afraid that your plants may die out of neglect, succulents are the option just for you! They are excessively hard to kill, so you don’t need to bother if you watered them this week… or the previous week.

Here is why succulents are so awesome:

  • They are just cute
  • They are undemanding
  • They don’t require much fertilizing
  • They’ll fit well at home and in the office
  • They won’t complain about dry soil
  • You can arrange different succulents in one pot to create a tiny indoor garden

To keep succulents happy, you just need to follow very simple rules: water them sparingly, make sure the drainage is good, and pay attention to their light requirements. You can find unique and beautiful succulents to every taste: from bright green and juicy to dark and fleshy.

Tried and True Succulents You Can Start with:

  • Sansevieria. It’s a wonder because it looks so perfectly minimalistic. It can grow from 35cm to 50cm in height, and it will definitely make any room look exceptionally stylish.
  • Portulacaria afra. Also known as “Elephant Bush,” this plant can grow pretty big and reach great heights when looked after properly. It’s an option for you if you dream about growing a small tree at home.
  • Aloe vera. Your first thought may be about its medicinal purposes. Yet, it’s a beautiful succulent plant that needs just a little of your love and a bright sunny window sill in your kitchen.
  • Echeveria. This desert native comes in a variety of colors and does best in dry conditions. For optimal results, place echeveria in full sun and ensure the soil is well-drained.
  • Zebra plant. This stunning plant may not really resemble zebra, but it was definitely named because of this resemblance. It’s sweet and undemanding: it needs sunlight and water in moderation.
  • Jade plant. This plant is native to South Africa. It looks marvelous, and its glossy green leaves are so cute! It loves bright light and needs watering only when the soil is dry.
